The archiepiscopal Mint MillThe Mint Mill in Sladovny suburb was built by Bishop Charles II of Liechtenstein-Castelcorn in the beginning of his reign in Kroměříž in 1665. In spring of the 1666, the first coins were minted there. In 1669, the first gold medal that weighed 100 ducats was minted. In Kroměříž Mint, not only ordinary coins were made but also a lot of qualified craftsmen worked there. They were able to make plastic front and backside of the coins and medals. Kryštof Hoffmann, one of the famous craftsmen, created a portrait medal of Bishop Charles II of Liechtenstein-Castelcorn in 1670. In the same year, the medal was minted from gold and weighed 20 ducats. Kroměříž mintage belonged to the most valued currency of that period and later to the sought-after numismatic acquisitions thanks to good artistic level and thorough artwork. In the end of the 18th century, the activity of the Mint was ended on the order of Empress Marie Theresa. Since 1998, the Mint House has been a part of Monumental Fund belonging to Municipal Monumental Reservation in Kroměříž. An exposition of Kroměříž minting was built in the interior of the Mint. The museum, mainly those parts where the tools and machines used in the coins and medals mintage are exhibited, is appreciated by the visitors. The Endowment Fund of Kroměříž Mint Mill together with the town issues a new commemorative mintage. The Houses of Canons and Vicars No. 3-5
